چکیده

The objective of this work is to analyze disturbances in the environment caused by anthropic activities oil and gas extraction sector. Methodologically, focusing on environmental vulnerability (EV), hydrocarbons (oil gas) are considered through a qualitative quantitative analysis impacts, including research Environmental Impact Studies procedures like EIA/RIMA (institutional Reports Brazil). This study focuses operation demobilization offshore drilling activity installation Santos Basin pre-salt production (Stages 1, 2, 3). criteria addressed EIA/RIMAs used, those that correlate with EV extraction. Impacts for long-term, permanent, partially reversible, or irreversible filtered, totaling 53 impacts (31 effective/21 potential). We concluded methodologies EIAs vary between stages. At times, variation so drastic same impact can have completely different rating from one stage another, despite referring area. condition makes it impossible define single index venture. does not offer concrete resolution, but exposes issue its inconsistencies.

Vulnerability mapping as a tool to manage the environmental impacts of oil and gas extraction

Various biophysical and socio-economic impacts may be associated with unconventional oil and gas (UOG) extraction. A vulnerability map may assist governments during environmental assessments, spatial planning and the regulation of UOG extraction, as well as decision-making around UOG extraction in fragile areas. A regional interactive vulnerability map was developed for UOG extraction in South ...

Is Brazil’s Prolific Pre-Salt Petroleum Geology a Template for Oil & Gas Exploration in West Africa?

About 125 130 million years ago South America began to separate from Africa and as the continents drifted apart, an extensive rift valley was formed, containing large lakes with abundant organic material that had washed off the adjacent highlands. In Angola, these sediments are known as the Bucomazi formation, an exceedingly rich oil and gas source rock. The rift valleys are similar to the pres...

Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals and Oil and Natural Gas Operations: Potential Environmental Contamination and Recommendations to Assess Complex Environmental Mixtures.

BACKGROUND Hydraulic fracturing technologies, developed over the last 65 years, have only recently been combined with horizontal drilling to unlock oil and gas reserves previously deemed inaccessible. Although these technologies have dramatically increased domestic oil and natural gas production, they have also raised concerns for the potential contamination of local water supplies with the app...

Reducing Risk in Oil and Gas Production Operations

Remote operations are commonly employed in oil and gas installations in the North Sea and elsewhere. The use of information and communications technologies (ICT) has resulted in process control systems being connected to corporate networks as well as the Internet. In addition, multiple companies, functioning as a virtual organization, are involved in operations and management. The increased con...
